Refuse and Recycling Local Update

The following information was put out by the county council this afternoon.

The snowfalls and icy conditions have caused some disruption to the service across the county to varying degrees. Higher areas across the north have been most affected. Following on the ground assessments during today including estate roads, refuse and recycling collections have regrettably had to be suspended in the Consett area. Crews have still been out, with the main focus on more accessible areas around Chester-le-Street.

The affected areas are Benfieldside, Blackhill, Shotley Bridge, Ebchester, Medomsley, Moorside, Castleside, Bridgehill, Consett, Tow Law, Usher Moor and collections are planned on Saturday 19 January although this of course is weather/ground conditions dependant. We have a further opportunity on Monday to collect if this is needed. There are pockets of missed collections from hard to reach areas around Chester-le-Street and we will attempt to pick these up tomorrow.

My rubbish was due to be collected today, I thought there may be a problem due to the weather.

    Thanks for the update…

  2. John Shaw Says:

Don’t understand the problem, the roads in Shotley Bridge have been clear, the Postman and Milkman have been here every day, what’s it going to be like after this weekend when the snow’s expected?

Good to hear Chester le Street is being looked after!

Owen Temple, who has been Consett North's Lib Dem Councillor since 2007, and Margaret Nealis are committed to working for local people in Consett, to make sure that their voice is heard at County Hall. As the county council takes a more and more centralised and "one-size-fits-all" approach, it is more important than ever for Consett to have campaigners who will stand up for this town.

Do you agree that a 3 hour time limit on the Albert Road Car Park is a good idea?
